Getting serious (again!) about exercise and weight loss and this is where I'm keeping track of my progress. |

I’m Laura and I live in North Carolina.
I like hot weather; I don’t like cold weather. At all.
I run, cycle, do yoga, and play kickball and softball.
I have a phenomenal support system of family and best friends.
I’m married and have 1 dog and 2 cats.
I listen to country, rap, hip hop, and classical. Not at the same time. Usually.
I love watching football and attending about any sporting event. I hate watching tennis and golf. I’m obsessed about Appalachian State football. Rabidly obsessed.
I like endurance sports because they make me feel like a badass. I like doing things that other people don’t think they can do.
I am a 2010 Marine Corps Marathon finisher. It was hard. My time sucked. I still felt like an incredible badass. I still do. I ran the race with my dad. He’s also a badass.
I’m now training for my second marathon, The 2012 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach, with one of my very best friends, Maggie. (That’s a picture of us above at the end of the Battleship Half Marathon in Wilmington, NC. We made our own shirts. We’re cool like that.) She lives in my neighborhood and we do nearly all of our training runs together. Training with a partner (and doing the Galloway run/walk method) has revolutionized my running life. I am so grateful for the time we get together, even if sometimes it’s at 6:15 on Friday morning!
I get crazy nervous, but I’m generally not moody.
I’m much more “vocal” online than I am in person.
I’m religious and focusing really hard on tapping into my Lutheranism and relationship with God. Some days I’m better at it than others.
I have a Master’s Degree in English and a Southern accent.
